Asian Soap Operas

I'm watching this Korean drama on FUJI TV at work right now, and I must say: Korean guys can be pretty cute after eye surgery. It's nice knowing that all the traditional Asian gender stereotypes are still in place though, at least in the media. You know I'm being sarcastic, right?

ABC

Ashley and I had our interviews at ABC last night. I was a little peeved that it was at 11PM, thus killing any chances of catching up with Kevin, but once at the television studio I realized that this will probably be the last time that I would be interviewed for an international show. I soaked up the experience, being the quintessential tourist and taking pictures left and right. The anchorman worked in Seattle for several years for FOX, and we made chit-chat about Seattle and such. Good times.

Jassi, NO!

I know I should be happy for Jassi, since her makeover will probably get her more dates and a possible job promotion, but I can't help but feel that she is selling out to a beauty standard that is impossible to acheive for most women, especially if that beauty standard comes from a hegemonic culture/race not your own. I hope this won't change who she is underneath; if anything her new looks should serve as a beacon to reflect the inner beauty that is Jassi. As long as she's happy, I'm happy.
