An Ode to Yoko Kanno
Words can never describe how I feel about Yoko Kanno's music. No one composer has captured my heart the same way she has. She is able to disappear into her songs; one cannot listen to two pieces of her work and state that they are from the same composer. Her versatility in song composition is short of mind-blowing, as she is able to compose choral canons, drum 'n bass beats, rock ballads, and jazz pieces on a drop of a hat.
